TRS Founder Kavitha Launches New Regional Party in Telangana

Telangana Rashtra Sena Launched by K Kavitha, Daughter of Former Chief Minister

K Kavitha, the president of Telangana Jagruthi, launched her new political party, Telangana Rashtra Sena, on Saturday. This move comes after she announced plans to launch a regional political force in the state on Friday, citing a focus on the "aspirations and unfinished agenda" of Telangana.

Kavitha's new party, Telangana Rashtra Sena, is a departure from her previous affiliation with the BRS, a party led by her father, former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. She was suspended from the BRS in September 2025 after accusing her cousins and party leaders T Harish Rao and J Santosh Kumar of "tarnishing" her father's image over the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.

Since her suspension, Kavitha has continued to engage with public issues under the banner of Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organization she heads. In a statement, she noted that she and her supporters were "expelled" from the BRS, rather than leaving voluntarily.

Kavitha's decision to launch a new party is driven by her perception that the BRS has strayed from its core issues and lost touch with the people. She believes that a regional party focused on the unfulfilled agenda and aspirations of Telangana is necessary to fill the void.

Kavitha took to X to announce the launch of her new party, writing, "Remember The Name: Telangana Rashtra Sena. We refuse to back down, come what may; It is time the people of Telangana have their say. We will not let our aspirations decay; Be reduced to ashes if you dare come in our way. Your Time is Done, Our Time is Now."
