Reliance Jio Sees Strong Momentum in Home Broadband Business

Reliance Jio is witnessing significant growth in its home broadband business, with its 5G-based AirFiber service emerging as the primary driver of expansion and reshaping last-mile connectivity in India. The telco has reported a substantial increase in its home broadband connections, with a total of 27 million subscribers at the end of the year, marking a net addition of nearly 10 million users over the past 12 months.

According to Anshuman Thakur, senior vice president at Jio Platforms, homes continue to be a priority for the company. "We had a good year. We have now reached 27 million subscribers, almost 10 million net additions during the last 12 months, and 75% of those coming through AirFiber, which is working at scale and working really well," he stated during the Q4 post-earnings call.

AirFiber accounted for around 75% of new additions, highlighting the rapid scale-up of Jio's fixed wireless access (FWA) strategy. The service, powered by its 5G network, is helping the company bypass traditional fiber rollout constraints and expand broadband access faster. With a focus on non-line-of-sight (NLOS) deployment capabilities, Jio is expanding coverage in areas where direct fiber connectivity was previously difficult.

Enterprise Business Gains Momentum

Alongside its consumer broadband push, Jio is scaling up its enterprise connectivity and digital solutions portfolio, with growing demand for managed services beyond basic connectivity. Enterprises are increasingly opting for integrated offerings rather than standalone connectivity. Jio is leveraging its AirFiber and UBR-based last-mile solutions to address connectivity needs across distributed enterprise locations.
